:This article is quite confused. "Dai Viet" is a former name Vietnam that was used in the Middle Ages. Here it is presented as a "kingdom," as if it was something different than Vietnam. The name was used officially in various dynasties and in two separate historical periods. So it doesn't really work as a way of dividing up Vietnam's history. This article is quite confused. "Dai Viet" is a former name Vietnam that was used in the Middle Ages. Here it is presented as a "kingdom," as if it was something different than Vietnam. The name was used officially in various dynasties and in two separate historical periods. So it doesn't really work as a way of dividing up Vietnam's history.
