In the Central Highlands of Vietnam is Gia Lai Province, also Gia Lam, whose capital is Pleiku. Plei Me, which was near the first engagement in the Battle of the Ia Drang, is in the province.
Its northern neighbor is Kontum Province; Dac Lac Province on the south; and Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces on the east. Cambodia forms the eastern boundary.
The Ba and Se San rivers, which power the Yaly hydroelectricity plant, start in Gia Lam Province.
Pleiku airport, which is 25 km from the center of the city and 45 km to Kontum is
