Roald Amundsen is a Norwegian polar explorer.
Amundsen lead the first expedition to successfully traverse the Northwest Passage in the converted fishing vessel Gjoa.
Amundsen lead the first expedition to successfully reach the South Pole.
Amundsen had lived in Greenland, and had learned Polar survival skills from the Inuit, which he used on his expeditions.
