Allen Welch Dulles ((1893 – 1969) was an American intelligence executive, a key human-source intelligence officer for the World War II Office of Strategic Services, was the first civilian Director of Central Intelligence (DCI). At a time when the DCI headed the U.S. Intelligence Community, he was the longest-serving (1953-1961) person in that post. Dulles retired as a result of the Bay of Pigs covert action.
