Carne gasada

Ingredients
 
  • 1 round steak, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 teaspoon shortening
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 of a 6 ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
  1. Brown the steak in the shortening.
  2. Cover the meat with water and add the tomato sauce. Simmer for 2-3 hours until tender.
  3. Add cumin, garlic, salt and pepper.
  4. Mix flour and water; add this to thicken the stew and cook for an additional fifteen minutes.
  5. Serve with flour tortillas and pinto beans.
