Pudding, an item of cuisine, has two main meanings. Usually it is a type of dessert, but it can also refer to a savoury food, as in Black pudding.
As dessert, pudding describes desserts of varying textures and consistencies, but in the United States the term usually relates to custard-like foodstuffs.
