The American Psychological Association, which publishes the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, forbids the unauthorized reproduction of diagnostic criteria. For that reason, a narrative of the criteria found in the DSM-IV-TR follows, with pertinent elements in italics.
