Robert E. Kelley is an organizational researcher who studied top performers at Bell Labs and developed a model that correlated with their performance. In priority order, here are the behaviors that correlate well to performance, as acknolwedged both by managers and peers:
- Initiative (cognitive ability & technical competence fade in importance with experience)
- Networking, Self-Management
- Perspective, Leadership, Teamwork, Followership
- Organizational Diplomacy, Oral Presentation.
