Abstentions in council votes

Not sure whether this is the right place, but there's been no reponse to my post in the forum.

John's announcement that he won't give a casting vote on the EC raises the real possibility that it might fail to resolve a content dispute. It seems to me that the spirit of the Charter would give you the job of making a provisional decision in such a case, though the wording isn't clear. Peter Jackson 18:09, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

• I concur with Peter Schmitt and do not see a role for the ME there at the moment.
• The "right place" for asking such things would be via CZ:Managing Editor/Community input.
• I could have replied faster if you had provided a link to your forum post.
