Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! John Stephenson (talk) 21:27, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Welcome

Warren William, Welcome to the wiki! I did a bit of initial reformatting of the USS Wakefield (AP-21) article, adding you as lead author for now since the article begins with a personal statement. It might make sense to move that personal statement to the Talk page. I'll be very interested to see where the article can go. Do you have any photographs of it that we might add?Pat Palmer (talk) 20:11, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

P S - I just checked and there are several photos in the public domain over in Wikimedia Commons. Would you like to choose one? If you need help to get it uploaded here, just drop a line on my Talk page.Pat Palmer (talk) 20:15, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

USS Wakefield article Talk page - good job

Warren, you did successfully move the personal statement to the USS Wakefield (AP-21) Talk page. I did a little formatting on it for you. Look at the top of each page; there are tabs, which we call "subpages", for moving among different areas of the article such as Main Article, Talk Page, External Links, etc. By the way, sometimes it's called a Discussion page, and other times a Talk page.

REMINDER: When you leave a comment anywhere, please sign the comment by place four tildes ~~~~ at the end of the post. That adds your user name the timestamp as a signature.Pat Palmer (talk) 22:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

The network article you wish to write

I think you will be able to write the network article here. The folks in Wikipedia sometimes can muddle a saint with their complicated rules, and there is no way to get disputes resolved except that the most aggressive editor wears everyone out by insisting they are "right". I'll be interested to read what you write.Pat Palmer (talk) 22:29, 28 March 2021 (UTC) I have stated my Full Service Network article. I put in the history subject but have no idea what sub category it should be in. Here's the link to it. Any assistance in formatting or anything else would be appreciated. https://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Time_Warner_Cable%27s_Full_Service_Network ~~Warren William Mahan~~

Photo of USS Wakefield crew

Warren, Is your dad in this 1946 photo of the Wakefield crew? Pat Palmer (talk) 17:45, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

No he is not in that photo. He left the ship in late fall 1945 before the ship went on a cruise on December 4, 1945 for Taku, China. He had originally joined the Coast Guard in 1937 so he had been in for 8 years and my mom was pregnant with me. I was born in March 1946. ~~Warren William Mahan~~

Awww, too bad! By the way, when you "sign" a post, no need to type your name. Just type four tildes in a row like this: ~~~~ Please try it here and see what happens! Pat Palmer (talk) 20:13, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
I will give that a try. By the way I found a WW II war bond movie that is in the Internet Archive that is about the Wakefield. What are the rules about posting a link to it. Here it is so you can see it.

https://archive.org/details/22490StoryOfATransport The first minute or so don't have the Wakefield but the rest of the "movie" is all about it including its history as the Manhattan, Warren William Mahan (talk) 20:25, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Great! Now please remember to INDENT comments under a specific header; I'm doing it for you now, with this edit.Pat Palmer (talk) 20:37, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
P S - That movie looks interesting. Will try to watch it all later.Pat Palmer (talk) 20:39, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
