Judo and Culture of Japan
Do you think at some point you could add a brief section on judo/martial arts in Japan to the Culture of Japan article? There is a section on sport but not judo, etc. Thanks! John Stephenson 22:31, 1 August 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks for your work on this page. As you say on my Talk, there is now some overlap; I am going to have a go at integrating them later. There is obviously a bit of a problem with things like sumo, which are not just sports. John Stephenson 23:39, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

Ears being boxed
Geez, I hadn't thought about that phrase in years! But I certainly grew up hearing it all around me (I was born in 1942). I was fortunate enough never to have had it done to me, but it was a *very* current phrase at least through my childhood, into the early 1950s, let's say. When I later had kids of my own, it was in a French atmosphere, so the occasion to use it never arose. I wonder how one researches its use? Ask William Safire of the NYT, perhaps?
