I am a doctoral student of US History with interests in 19th Century African American history & culture as well as topics of race, identity, and gender. Additionally, I have interests in public history and museums.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, my regional history has framed a great deal of my scholarly interests. The role of minorities in mass movements as well as themes of solidarity of self-help and kinship are fascinating to study. These topics for me were most interesting during the first era of Reconstruction.
