Pierpaolo Da Fieno was born on December the 16th 1976 in South Italy. In 1994 he entered the Italian Naval Academy, where he graduated in 1998 as an Ensign. He then attended the University of Naples "Federico II", where in 2000 he got a degree "cum laude" in Naval Engineer. He have worked for several years as a Junior Engineering Officer, first, and Chief Engineer, later, aboard Italian Navy Ships and is currently employed in the Logistic and Support Office of the Italian Navy General Staff, with the rank of Lieutenant. His main areas of interest are: ● Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture ● Mathematics and Cryptography ● Physics ● History ● Computer Science and programming He likes spending his spare time reading and travelling. His favourite authors are Robert Harris and Neal Stephenson, but his readings span from history essays to fantasy novels. He firmly believes in Open Source as an efficient way to share knowledge and improve software quality. He speaks Italian and English.
