Author of Ruby Testifies, a play produced in 1990, When the Going Was Good: A Guide to the 99 Best Narratives of Travel, Exploration, and Adventure (Scarecrow Press, 2003), and more than one thousand articles, reference book entries, and reviews. Winner of the Allie Beth Martin Award from the Public Library Association, 1999.
