Abhishek D. Garg has completed B.Sc. (Biotechnology) from GH Raisoni National College, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (INDIA), in the year 2007. He has also done Diploma in Bioinformatics (D/L) from Bioinformatics Institute of India, Noida (INDIA). Abhishek D. Garg is a noted young biologist of his region. He is recipient of several national awards including, "AITSE 35th merit Scholar 1999" awarded by MIIT (New Delhi, INDIA) and "Best Undergradute Research Paper Award 2006" given by Anna University (Chennai, INDIA). He has presented about 3 research papers in national as well as international scientific symposiums. He has about 26 scientific publications including 7 research publications to his credit. He has good communication skills and knowledge of English. He has also passed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, conducted by British Council (UK), Cambridge University (UK) and IDP Australia (Australia) in the year 2006, with a band score of 7.5 out of 9. Simultaneously, he has worked as "Undergraduate Research Fellow" for GH Raisoni Institute of Interdisciplinary Sciences (Nagpur, INDIA). He has been recently selected as the "Summer Research Fellow 2007" by Indian Academy of Sciences (Bangalore, INDIA), Indian National Science Academy (New Delhi, INDIA) and National Academy of Sciences (Allahabad, INDIA) to carry out intensive research work on eye cancer (retinoblastoma) at L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad (India). Abhishek D. Garg is member of The Indian Science Congress Association (Kolkatta, INDIA) and The Bombay Natural History Society (Mumbai, INDIA). Abhishek D. Garg has done research in the field of microbiology, chemical zoology, evolutionary zoology, bioinformatics as well as general biosciences. He was involved in research for demonstrating two-way chemotaxis of motile bacteria in same chemically controlled environment. He also did research in resolving the phylogenetic relationship of Woolly Mammoth and Modern Elephants using in silico methodologies. Currently, the group of Abhishek D. Garg is working on assessment of antimicrobial activity of toad skin secretions and toad cytogenetics. Abhishek D. Garg is also actively invloved in conservation of herpetofauna of Central India. His areas of interest include Molecular Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Human Genetics and Evolutionary Zoology.
