Response to you email about naming the reaction

Howard, in response to your email:

• The reaction is a reduction-oxidation reaction, usually referred to as a "redox reaction" and I think that would be a better link than "oxidation" altho the link would be red since we have no "Redox reaction" article as yet. However, the Chemical reaction article has a section on "Reaction types" in which redox reactions are discussed. You might consider linking to that article.
• The reaction is also almost universally referred to as a "thermite reaction".

Thanks Milt, and also thanks to Dave Volk for his contribution. I appreciate the help, from both of you, more than it might immediately seem. This is simple, effective, and prompt collaboration -- at a time where I'm under fire (or should I say combustion in this context?) for being unable to collaborate.

I will make a piped link to reaction type under chemical reactions. Once I have time either to find a machine-readable version of the heat prediction tables based on the Goldschmidt equation, I'll extend Dave's equation. Howard C. Berkowitz 15:25, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
