Talk:Meaning

John, I appreciate all your work, and I don't mean to disrespect it, but I'm inclined to delete this page in its current form. The topic of meaning is a topic in its own right, studied first and foremost by philosophers of language (who write articles like "The Meaning of Meaning"), but also by linguists. So it needs an interdisciplinary article of its own. It just doesn't help elucidate the topic at all to create pointers to articles about fields. People who want to read about semantics, a field, will look at the article about semantics. People who want to read about meaning, a concept, will look at the article about meaning. --Larry Sanger 06:48, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
- I don't object to that. I just thought it odd that we had a random collection of articles that touch on meaning in some way, while not having an article on meaning itself. Until it's created, then in lieu of such an article I opted for this page. John Stephenson 00:13, 12 July 2007 (CDT)
