Death/Facts

This sentence I think should be revised:

"The cause of Ludwig's death has not been determined, but the three most common theories are assassination, accidental death while trying to escape, and murder/suicide."

The murder of a specific high-ranking or formerly high-ranked member of a ruling government is usually designated as assassination, so the third theory should be just "suicide" (if he drowned himself on purpose); perhaps in the context of the theory it could even be classified 'accidental suicide', if he indeed die as a result of a struggle with a would-be assassin (and even then that would be death as a consequence of self-defense). --Robert W King 12:28, 15 December 2007 (CST)

    • I havent had a chance to complete that portion of the article yet, but thank you for paying attention and collaberation.

The murder in question is that of Dr. von Gudden. The murder/suicide theory postulates that Ludwig killed Dr. vG before committing suicide. Another branch of this theory is that Ludwig killed Dr. vG in an attempt to escape and then drowned or had a heart attack shortly thereafter.

The whole Ludwig affair is a complicated one. One of the tour guides at Linderhof has stated "There are about 130 different books on the subject of King Ludwig, and about 150 theorys on the cause of his death" It is difficult to put this all together in a way that is non-biased towards any particular theory.
