Starting work in progress

I do not find the current Afghanistan War (1978-92) article to be an entirely logical way to break up the conflict, especially with respect to international involvement before and after the Soviet withdrawal. To some extent, the Afghanistan War (2001-) article reflects such a separation, with the subarticle on Afghanistan War (2001-), major combat phase separating the ejection of the Taliban government post 9/11; the challenge is what to call the current turmoil, in which there is some recognizable government.

In revising the Afghanistan War (1978-92) article, I'm also addressing some neutrality and Cold War centric writing. Howard C. Berkowitz 20:59, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
