Fazul Abdullah Mohammed (b. 1972-1974?), in the Comoros Islands (although he may have Kenyan citizenship), is believed to be the head of al-Qaeda in East Africa. The U.S. offers a USD $5 million reward for him; he has been indicted for his alleged role in the 1998 bombings of U.S. Embassies in Africa. He has been targeted by various air and missile strikes, and might have been killed in Somalia in January 2007, but may be at large; he may spend some time with al-Shabaab in Somalia.
