Emily Brown is a fictional character who first appeared in a story of the Daily Telegram, a small Wisconsin newspaper. She was reportedly sought after by the Korean Emperor Sunjong and was throned as the Empress of Corea in 1903.

According to the Daily Telegram, Emily was born about 1860, and, when she was 15, she and her mother moved to Korea with her father, who was supposedly the first Protestant missionary to settle in Seoul. Emily was quickly able to learn the local language and serve as a translator for the missionaries in dealing with the government.
